Jimmy Belita is a professor and also the Rector of St. Vincent School of Theology, Quezon City. His experience as a professor and administrative officer started in 1973. He is the former Dean of Theology at St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary in Jaro, Iloilo before he became the Dean of Theology at Seminario Mayor de San Carlos, Mabolo, Cebu in 1979. The following year, he served as a Rector of Seminario Mayor de San Carlos. In 1983, he entered De La Salle University and St. Vincent School of Theology (SVST) as professor. It was in 1986 that he became the Dean of SVST until 1994.  Within that year he was also the Chairperson of the Religious Studies Department of the De La Salle University Manila and a Member of the Board of Trustees of Colegio de San Lorenzo until 1990. In 1988 he entered Eastern College (now Eastern University) in St. Davids, Pennsylvania as Visiting Professor. Afterwards, he became a holder of Ariston Estrada Sr. Professorial Chair for Theology at De La Salle University. In 1993 until 1994, he was appointed Director of the Institute of Religious Education at Adamson University Manila. Then, he became the Vice President for Academic Affairs until 1995. He also became a member of the Archdiocesan Commission on Visions and Phenomenon of Manila. Since 1998, he has been a member of the Board of Trustees in a number of schools namely, Sacred Heart College in Quezon, La Concordia College in Manila, and Immaculate Heart of Mary College in Quezon City. He was also appointed Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees and President of the Adamson University Manila in 1994 until 2003. In recent years he has engaged himself in research and writing. His latest publication is God Was Not in the Wind: an Evolutionary Understanding of Popular Religion in the Philippines which won the National Book Awards in 2006. His present research interest is on shamans and faith healers and the interface between religion and physical sciences.
